USB To Data Highway Plus Cable
Released this past February, this cable by Rockwell Automation connects a computer’s USB port to a PLC-5 processor through the mini-DIN connectors and allows direct communication between these two devices. Drivers for the cable are included in the RSLinx Classic 2.53. The cable (which is pictured below) is 10 feet long and contains a pod located two feet from the USB connector. This pod houses the electronics required to perform the same functions as the PCMCIA card that it is replacing. The pod also includes a baud switch and diagnostic LEDs. All power required is supplied through the USB port, so external power is unnecessary.

Computers with serial ports have become very hard to find, often creating problems. Rockwell has devised a cost-effective solution for connecting your newer PC to automation equipment. This adapter kit comes complete with everything needed to convert your USB port into a fully-functional serial port. Its compact, rugged design is tested and approved for use with Rockwell Automation products.

USB to DH485 Interface Converter
Rockwell’s newest interface converter expands DH-485 connectivity options for Allen-Bradley SLC 500 and MicroLogix controller platforms. It allows computers with USB ports to be connected to DH-485 ports located on SLC 500, MicroLogix, ControlLogix controllers, PanelView terminals, as well as 1747-AIC and 1761-NETAIC isolators.

Siemens
Combination AFCI
Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) technology by Siemens is important to electrical contractors as they work to build safe, efficient electrical distribution systems. Diagnosing the cause of an AFCI trip can be confusing, but Siemens and Winkle Electric offer solutions that are not available on any other AFCI. An arc fault may occur anywhere in a home’s electrical system in several different ways:
• Line-to-Neutral •
A supply cord can become damaged by a door pinching it continuously or by furniture pushing against cords plugged into electrical outlets.
• Line-to-Ground •
This can occur by accidentally piercing electrical cables behind drywall or hammering electrical cable staples too tightly into studs during rough wiring.
• Series •
A series-type arc fault can occur in a screw terminal where a wire is connected to a receptacle that may become loose as it is pushed back into the work box.
Siemens Combination Type AFCI trip indicators provide a valuable analysis tool to help electricians pinpoint the type of trip. These indicators are in the form of LEDs that appear near the handle of the breaker. The LED indicators will appear for five seconds each time the AFCI is turned on, up to 30 days after the last trip. One LED will illuminate if the last trip was a result of an arcing fault, two LEDs will illuminate if the last trip was a result of an arcing fault-to-ground, and no indicator will be displayed if the trip is a result of an overcurrent condition. Combination AFCI also has a step-by-step troubleshooting procedure to simplify the process of diagnosing trips.

INTERSAFE Data Interface Ports
The INTERSAFE Data Interface Ports by Hoffman are a solution that combines convenience and safety. Ports are mounted on an enclosure to allow access to the programming devices inside the enclosure without opening the enclosure door. An important accessory that can be used with a broad range of enclosures, these ports maintain compliance with the NFPA 70E workplace safety standard.
Interface ports by Hoffman come ready-to-use in all standard configurations, including GFCI or standard duplex receptacle with a 5-amp circuit breaker for added safety. Other features include a template for accurate cutout dimensions, a quarter-turn latch with screwdriver slot and padlock hasp on all steel and stainless steel models and a quarter-turn latch with screwdriver slot on the polycarbonate model. The disk drive enclosure provides access to one or two customer-supplied disk drives without opening the cabinet. Modification and customization services are available to accommodate a wide variety of additional connectors.

Powermonitor 1000
Energy management and understanding energy costs are a major focus in the manufacturing industry today. The Allen-Bradley Powermonitor 1000 is a cost-effective energy monitoring and control solution. It is perfect for applications where load profiling, cost allocation or energy control is required. It also provides seamless integration into existing energy monitoring systems where sub-metering is required.
The Powermonitor 1000 is available in five models–two transducers and three energy-monitors. Transducer models features the ability to measure voltage, current and power-related tags. Energy-monitor models have the ability to measure consumption-related tags such as real, reactive and apparent energy.
Other features include compact size, wiring diagnostics, revenue meter accuracy, two status inputs and configurable KYZ output.
